Travel Adventures is a Shepherd’s Center program designed to offer active seniors the opportunity to travel together on comfortable chartered buses to locations in the southeast. The trips are open to any adult in the Charlotte community. The tours are led by SCC volunteer leaders who help plan the trips. Travel Adventures offer about 12 trips during the year to various destinations. Knowing the diverse interests of seniors, the committee plans trips to appeal to a wide audience. Past trips include favorite theaters for performances, beautiful gardens throughout the state, historical tours, museums and winery tours. The restaurants selected are unique and help make the experience delicious. To register for Travel Adventures CLICK HERE
ON THE GO …. Travel Adventures
On the Go Travel Adventures Program offers interesting local outings. This program is for those who like traveling on the LYNX and carpooling to nearby destinations. Volunteers help coordinate the details. To reserve your spot, send your payment to the SCC. Restaurant meals are additional.
“On the Go” is on vacation for the summer!
DAY TRIP TRAVEL NOTE: Please reserve and pay for your spot early for day trips. Bus charters are very expensive & have penalties for late cancellations. The SCC needs a minimum number of travelers to commit to trips several weeks ahead of the scheduled date to guarantee the bus.
CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel at least 45 days prior to the trip date, a credit for a future trip will be given (no cash refunds). After the 45-day grace period, if a substitute is found, that person will pay the trip cost and a credit for a future trip will be issued to the original traveler.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Our trips are planned for active adults and maya require a lot of walking. We have rated our trips by activity level: 1-Easy (flat, few or no steps), 2-Moderate (may be uneven terrain or steps) and 3-active (lots of walking, may be uneven terrain and steps). All trip participants are expected to carry information about medical conditions, medications and insurance providers.

We’re off to another fabulous play as the Davidson Community Players present “Boeing Boeing”. It’s the 1960s and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn’t be happier: three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and all three ladies are in town simultaneously. Timid Robert is forgetting which lies to tell to whom, and catastrophe looms. Fasten your seat belts! After the show, we’re off to an early dinner at Killington’s with a nice choice of entrees, beverage and dessert. Meet at the Shepherd’s Center at 12:45 p.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. Activity Level 2.

Join us for a relaxing getaway to Rutherford County! Our trip starts with lunch at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn & Spa, followed by a guided tour of their music box collection. Then we’ll enjoy a pontoon boat tour of Lake Lure as the guide explains how the lake was created and what lies beneath it. After checking into the Ramada Inn, we’re off to shop at A Day in the Country, then dinner at the Veranda Café. It’s just a short trip to the Flat Rock Playhouse to experience “The Music of the Night: The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber.” After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, a step-on guide will provide a 2-hour tour of Hendersonville & Flat Rock. The morning ends with lunch (on your own) and shopping in their quaint downtown area. We’ll stop to tour Burntshirt Winery (and sample their wines if you wish) on the way home.
